Several visitors commented on the clove cookies, so let's take a look at the recipe! Gail says it's an easy one . . .
1 stick melted butter
1 cup sugar
Mix together well and add
1 tsp vanilla
Mix & beat in 1 egg
In separate bowl, mix
1 cup flour
1 tsp ground cloves
Combine two bowls. Drop by level teaspoon onto lightly greased cookie sheet. Bake 350 about 8 minutes or until edges start turning golden. Cool on pan only 30 sec, then remove.
Makes about 4 dozen.
This week is our last week of the 2014 season and Saturday is Closing House, our biggest sale of the year and lots of so-long-til-spring hugs! Be sure to pick up cloves from The Farm pantry :)

Open House Fall 2014
Thanks to everyone who visited for our Fall Open House this year. It was a beautiful day!
The food table featured our Halladay mixes. The meatballs were a hit, as was the spicy bite of the stuffed celery. If you haven't tried Halladay, they are our favorites for dips, spreads, soups, & deserts. We think you'll like them too.

Another of our favorites--the pumpkin. . . lots and lots of pumpkins :)
Frost expected tonight!

August
This little birdie looks so happy among the garden tomatoes this morning! These are jet stars, along with some unnamed cherry tomato type. We asked the question over on facebook,"What's your favorite tomato?" and the consensus was any kind of tomato fresh from the garden ;)
In this tasting, the little yellow pear was the least favorite, with one more "least liked" vote than Vintage Wine. It might have a tough time beating out the heirlooms in taste, but it sure is cute in a salad.
Most unusual category was "Chocolate Stripes" which also had a good number of votes for favorite tasting too. Another one for the list of ones to try next year. . .
So what's your favorite tomato from the garden? Any and all fresh picked? Or is there an old--or new--favorite?
Here we are end of August. Did you hear there's a big sale going on in the shop? And because the calendar says September, we'll be seeing pumpkins and bittersweet pretty soon!
Hope we're seeing you soon too :)
These pictures are from a tomato tasting last summer at Meijer Gardens in Michigan. Gold Medal won the favorite-tasting category. It should have had the best-fitting name too, shouldn't it?
Grace Lahman's took second place. Not heard of that one, maybe we should include it on next year's seed list . . .

20th Anniversary
Ladies and Gentlemen,
Friends and Relatives ~
We have exciting
news: THE FARM is 20 YEARS
OLD!
Can you believe
it?!? We can’t. We’ve just been enjoying the coming &
going of the seasons, one after another…and next thing you know, decades start
going by! It has been a wonderful ride,
and we hope we can go another 20!
We are planning a
special day to celebrate on Saturday, July 5, from 10-5. We’re going to serve up some refreshments and
LOTS of sales. There will be a shopping
incentive called “Farm Fun Money”. We’d
like to take your picture, so wear your best smile. AND we’d love it if you could BRING a picture
of your garden or yard to pin to our “Farm Family Bulletin Board”. We’d like to see what you gardeners have been
doing with all those plants you bought, from here or elsewhere.
So, come on out and
help us celebrate ~ you’re the ones who made it possible! And we thank you from the bottom of our
hearts!

Happy Spring!
Happy
Spring! ~
It’s
here, it’s finally here! Daffodils,
tulips, hyacinth…and Easter!
The sun
is so amazing on these beautiful days and the soil feels good in our hands. We’ve been sprucing up the garden and it’s
such a pleasant surprise to see what survived that crazy winter we just
had. There were a few casualties, but
that’s ok ~ it’ll give us a chance to try something new from the greenhouse, which is filling up
nicely. Shrubs and perennials are here,
and annuals arrive soon.
And the
shop…well…can it possibly get any more amazing?
I don’t think so! Come
see:
Spring
Open House is
Saturday, May 3, 10-5 and Sunday, May 4, 1-4.
Let’s celebrate together!

Spring All Over
Hello Farm Friends ~
Does anyone mind if I say we’ve had enough of this ‘Winter
Wonderland’? I LOVE walking into the
shop now because it says Spring all over the place!
Opening Day was Saturday, March 1.
I know I should have sent this last week, but with that “Big Storm”
coming, I knew you wouldn’t feel like coming out. Soooo…. We’ll just pretend like this Saturday
is Opening Day! I’ll make some treats
& refreshments and have a little gift for the first 14 people of 2014.
We have really expanded some of our lines: the baby/children’s area, Fair Trade
companies, lots of quilts and vintage goodies, and of course garden-related
items. So, come check it out ~ can’t
wait to see you!

Saturday, March 1st. . . One Week From Today!
It's been a cold, snowy winter and yes, we know there's still a bit more snow and cold to go thru, but still. . . a week from today, The Farm reopens for the 2014 season! So we're getting closer to the spring that we're all in a fever about :)

It's 2014?!?
Welcome 2014! Seems like we're all saying "where did the time go?" A big thank you to all our visitors who made 2013such a good year. We hope your holidays were wonderful and wish you all happiness for the coming new year.
The shop is closed for the winter season, but will reopen March 1st. We use this time to rest a little, but mostly there's still a lot to do to get ready for SpRiNg!
The Loft is open year-round and we're welcoming guests who are looking for a warm cozy getaway in the midst of this cold weather. See you soon!
